Spoonflower has 50% off on fat quarters for the next week (through November 8) – which means this is the perfect time to scoop up some tea towels for holiday gifting.

Better yet, pair your tea towels with a book, plant, baked goods or another item and use the towel as an eco-friendly wrapping – you’ll save the paper, and it’s like getting two gifts in one. Plus, if you start now, you might actually have time to sew up the towels before the holidays (unless you’re a really champion procrastinator like me, and then you’ll be hemming the night before your gift exchange).

With all the tea towel choices out there, you can find something that pairs with almost any gift idea or recipient – the hardest part may be choosing which one to use! (Or giving it away!)

Tea towels pair naturally with food- and kitchen-themed gifts, but anything small-ish will fit – here are some of my favorite ideas:

• A potted plant (maybe wrapped with my Windowsill fabric)
• A bottle of olive oil or other fancy sauce (tuck a sprig of fresh rosemary or other greenery in the ribbon for extra oomph)
• Kitchen utensils: One or a bunch

• A bottle of wine (or limoncello or sparkling cider or Christmas ale or whatever your drink of choice is) (Shown: Orange, Orange, Lemon, Lime)
• A mug or box of treats
• A loaf of bread like this, this or this

• A cookbook (Shown: Bakers Gonna Bake tea towel collection)
• Baked goods (I love their idea of including a recipe card with it)
• A basket of cookies or other treats (they don’t even have to be homemade)

• Fancy syrup or local honey (Shown: Honeycomb towel)
• A box of pretty much anything (Maybe a tin of tea? Pairs well with my Tea & Hope towel – plus you’ll be making a donation to charity when you buy it)
• How about a martini shaker or a jar of olives wrapped in my Sylvia tea towel?
• A pretty dish soap dispenser (pairs well with my Many Hands Make Light Work towel)

• A favorite book wrapped in my Jane’s Words tea towel or something else from the In the Stacks collection
• Barbeque tools or sauce wrapped with my Backyard Barbecue Barkcloth
• A Mason jar full of cookie ingredients (bonus points if you use a towel with the recipe on it!)
• Even a pie, with a little furoshiki-like action
